Such a good post. I'd say something snotty, but nothing comes to mind. I'd say men are superior at grocery shopping, but then I'd be dragged into the process. Sign up for a CSA and the food will come to you. Like magic.

I have a basic list on the computer with blanks in the sections that might have room for something special. The list is laid out as the store is so I will not miss anything. I do love shopping. I love working the store and my pantry/freezer/dry goods storage to get what they put on sale when they put it on sale. It is an interesting experience and very fun!

That would be good, alastair. Better still would be something where I
could enter my meals, generate a list, and then have a pricing
comparison analysis performed automatically.

By the way, Kate, I don't see your shopping lists anywhere on your
blog. Stop copying my grocery list layout ideas, which are brilliant,
original, and male.

Isn't there an iphone app in which you can

a) select your menus/recipes from a drop down list (or tagged photos in flickr?)
b) automatically populates the ingredients list based recipe.com databases...(5 star recipes get priority)

if not - someone should develop it....

Oh, don't flatter yourself! I do the "arrange by food, with list of meals" lists whenever I'm doing a major grocery shop instead of just running into Trader Joe's for milk and eggs.
