  • As agnostic-towards-atheist parents, my husband and I often find ourselves defaulting to "Some people believe x, some people believe y, and we aren't really sure god exists at all." The wee ones are now going on 7 and 8 and the psychological damage doesn't seem too severe. Yet.

    Don't worry. Jack will still think you're the bee's knees no matter what. And just wait til you see some of those traits you don't love about yourself staring you right back in the face. Good times.
  • We're in the same handbasket with Patty and so far, so good on the religious issues. As far as a dad role model, Calvin's is actually a good father overall ...see where that got him. Love 'em, care for 'em, try to do what is right for them and by them. That's all that it is about.
  • You bring up some important issues, but know the fact that you are grappling with them in the first place makes you a "good man" that is the greatest lesson you can pass on to your son. We all struggle as "role models" for our children, but as a wise woman once shared with me: they also need to understand that we are human, that we have limits and that is okay!
